HEAL, a Language to Process Lived Experience
“See how attention, emotion, body, and behavior move together—as they happen.”
Are you seeking a more conscious way of living? We invite curious minds to collaborate in restoring inner balance and nurturing deeper human connection. Especially if you are an educator, researcher, or innovator wishing to use HEAL to transform your professional impact and help address (global) challenges.
Team HEAL ecosystem
IMPORTANT NOTE: HEAL is not a result-oriented technique but maps to an internally accessed language that already exists inside you, serving as the fundamental basis for all human experience. Practicing HEAL helps you remember this innate language, allowing your inner landscape to become readable like an open book while your mind naturally balances your body to maintain stability throughout (disruptive) changes.
Transforming your life and professional impact begins with this awareness, which empowers you to address global challenges through the lens of self-adaptive wholeness. HEAL’s language framework bridges your internal feelings and sensations with external triggers and actions, enabling you to navigate complex environments with clarity and resilience.
The Current Human Condition
You move through your day as a sequence of reactions to what is happening around you.
You check your phone without noticing the impulse behind it. A moment later, you realize you’ve been scrolling longer than intended.
Meanwhile, something triggers you. A sudden discomfort appears, and almost instantly you reach for distraction. You start eating, light a cigarette, crave alcohol, distract yourself, or lose yourself in disconnected habits—not as a clear choice, but because something inside you feels overwhelming.
What you say is often only the surface, while what drives your “intra-actions” and reactions is already shaping you from within. This shows up in how you relate to yourself and others—as tension in conversations, irritation that suddenly rises, or moments where you withdraw, shut down, or push through. Communication breaks down not only because of what is said but also because something underneath is already active.
At a certain point, it becomes noticeable:
You’re already reacting emotionally. It has taken you over before you are aware of it.
Attention narrows—almost like a tunnel. What triggers you externally comes into focus while your inner reactions fade away.
What you feel adapts by reacting or shutting down. The body tightens, breathing shifts, and behavior follows automatically.
Usually, this comes as a surprise. You try to manage, pull or push backward, act out, or explain things away. You try to stay in control while something in you has already shaped your response.
This is not a series of events but a repeating pattern throughout the day.
Meanwhile, tension gradually builds in the body over time.
Not because something is wrong, but because you cannot see what is happening while it is unfolding.
The Foundation
Human Experience Augmenting Language (HEAL) was not modeled after a theory or derived from an existing method.
It emerged through more than two decades of direct observation during thousands of hours of shared human experience gathered across different cultures and continents.
What became visible through this process was that attention, emotion, behavior, and bodily sensation do not operate separately but as parts of one continuous whole.
This understanding is not entirely new. Human experience has long been described as interconnected across both traditional and indigenous systems for understanding the body and internal processes and modern holistic approaches in psychology, medicine, and embodied (somatic) practice.
What makes HEAL distinct is that its practices develop your ability to directly perceive how your internal processes extend externally while they’re unfolding in real time.
Rather than separating thoughts, emotions, behavior, or bodily responses, HEAL reveals how they continually shape and adapt to one another as part of the same holistic process.
Our observations integrate both novel and existing knowledge, harmonizing the underlying principles found across different disciplines and embodied practices—as different perspectives on the same human experience.
HEAL does not ask you to adopt a belief system or replace one framework with another.
It helps make these structures, states, and processes directly observable within your own experience.
What is Actually Happening
What you experience is not fragmented.
Your outward expression often masks what is happening within you. Although it may feel like separate reactions, it unfolds as one continuous “pattern” in which attention, emotion, body, and behavior continually influence one another wholly.
A moment occurs: attention shifts, perception changes, emotion responds, the body reacts, and behavior follows—not step by step, but as one integrated pattern.
Your thoughts are continually influenced by what you feel. What you feel is already shaping the body, and what happens in the body is already guiding behavior. These patterns regularly repeat.
This is how you function—always active, whether it is noticed or not.
Without awareness, these patterns of emotional and physical responses continue to influence you automatically.
The Gap
Most approaches work by analyzing, interpreting, or changing the human experience—often after something has already happened.
Thoughts are corrected, behavior is modified, emotions are regulated, and the body is calibrated. Each addresses something real, yet rarely are these interventions perceived together as an integrated whole in real time.
They try to influence the intangible within through what is tangible outside.
And while our intellectual understanding may grow, in the moment when patterns resurface, reactions continue happening—before they are ever noticed.
What we experience throughout the body remains active yet unseen.
Human Experience Augmenting Language (HEAL), a novel Flow Mode Language.
Human Experience Augmenting Language (HEAL) does not teach you to interfere with your experience but to nonjudgmentally witness how the different systems within you continually flow and adapt together as a whole. Through this process, you will be able to perceive what is happening while it is happening—in real time.
Noticing what’s taking shape, moves around, or transforms before responses fully form influences what modes your attention shifts to and where your feelings emerge. Through what physical sensations they express themselves and through what emotions they project and influence how we relate, communicate, and behave socially.
What HEAL helps to observe can be described through its language, which resonates with your core. Understanding that the way experience is described also influences how you perceive, interpret, and relate to it. And the more you become aware of responses unfolding, the more you can trace the patterns that they shape, reading and stabilizing your connection to the individual, the group, and the wider relational field.
Inspired by David Bohm’s exploration of wholeness and consciousness, we have systematized HEAL to approach human experience not as fragmented events but as a continually self-adaptive process—what Bohm referred to as “wholeness.” While observing focuses attention on what is externally visible, attention, feelings, bodily sensations, and social behavior can be perceived as dynamically influencing one another within the same, invisible, process; this takes shape both internally and extending externally. An unmanifest potential is orchestrating how your internal experiences become tangible in all connective tissues, all physiological systems, and the external world in which we relate socially.
As you become more conscious of how this wholeness process unfolds and folds back into the mentioned potential from which you witness, you also become more aware and recognize how disruptive responses and patterns form. They resolve in that same potential. Transformations in attention, emotional responses, bodily reactions, and behavioral responses become readable in real time rather than only interpreting their visible symptoms after the fact.
Perception, insights, and intuition develop—which are your abilities to gain a more in-depth understanding of what is happening as it happens in everything, everywhere, and all at once…
Not as a theory, but as a direct experience that you can have throughout your daily life.
The Body Matrix is used for mapping, tracking, and decoding bodily sensations and reactive patterns as they unfold in real time. The HP-A (pictured above) represents the first of three primary adaptive axes within the hormonal system. It is commonly associated with adaptations related to control and fear, expressed socially as vigilance and withdrawal, mentally as repression, and physically as sensations like tension and contraction.
One way we can make a process visible is through the Body Matrix—its structure, vocabulary, and way of mapping how patterns form both internally and in relationship.
It can be used to interpret what you internally perceive (using interoception) while responses happen in the body during emotional and behavioral responses—tension, contraction, activation, and withdrawal—not as isolated sensations but as expressions of (repetitive) patterns unfolding in real time.
Specific feelings correspond to specific physical sensations, and the patterns they comprise can be recognized directly after they have taken shape. This is not presented as a theory but as a dynamic that can be directly experienced and validated when shared with a mentor.
The mentor then uses the Body Matrix and other mapping tools, called matrices, to give you the visual feedback you need to understand what is happening.
The Body Matrix
This is not limited to specific moments of the day. Patterns can even be recognized in how misunderstandings arise, how tension builds between people, and how responses take shape before they are fully understood.
They are present in how you respond—in conversation, in decision-making, under pressure, and in how you relate and interact at home, at work, and socially.
Something happens externally, you feel triggered, and the response pattern unfolds internally, shaping how you speak, act, and engage with others.
By internally mapping responses, you can become fully aware of this while this happens.
Not to change the situation, but to discern how what you experience is part of all that is happening.
From here, different decisions become possible—not through technique, but through having clarity.
Your human experience is already speaking through you…

Learning, Research & Development
HEAL can be applied to bridge (and integrate) research, development, learning, dialogue, embodied practice, consulting, and emerging technological development. It can help researchers, technologists, educators, and anyone interested to integrate their in-depth understanding of the human experience.
HEAL developments are led and facilitated by Carlo Giovanni Monsanto and Andreea Georgiana Petruse through more than 25 years of polymathic integration and transdisciplinary exploration, observation, and practical application across different environments and cultures.
This work integrates insights from diverse holistic perspectives, using HEAL’s resonant flow mode language. It integrates insights from embodied (somatic) practices, social science, education, psychology, systems science, including the study of human behavior and perception. It also integrates different knowledge systems, such as the Indian knowledge systems, especially the traditional system for health cultivation called Ayurveda.
“HEAL offers a fresh new look at learning and human development from a subjective perspective that has not yet been described in such a creative, integrated, and systematic way.” — Prof. Emeritus Stanley Krippner, Ph.D., Consciousness Studies at Saybrook University.
“I have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of the HEAL program on academics, athletes, and healers alike. His (C.G. Monsanto’s) work has consistently demonstrated a profound ability to bridge the gap between spoken language and our core emotional experiences.” —Phoebe Del Boccio, Ph.D., APD, Research Scientist, New York University, Langone Health

Testimony
Learning a simple process after a recent viral infection, I could hold space for sensations I had previously called complaints. They began to show themselves more clearly.
I learned to “read” my feelings based on these expressions, translating specific sensations into feelings and reactions to real-world issues. Immediately upon recognizing patterns, impressions, and memories related to challenging situations in my past, they would effortlessly surface and join my experience. This allowed me to navigate through my body, opening to the possibility of receiving whatever I wanted to feel.
While holding space for the challenging experience that I had not yet allowed myself to receive and resolve. After completing each experience, I expanded into tranquility and clarity. There would be a sense of coming home into myself again. — Richard J.
